Commission your own bookplate
Keep track of your book collection with a series of personalised, hand-printed, engraved bookplates, produced to your own design. They also make a unique and memorable gift for the avid reader. Available in various quantities and sizes - see below for more details or email us with your questions.
How the process works:
- Email us with an idea. This can be as specific or as vague as you like.
- We will come up with some initial sketches and send them to you.
- Once you are happy with the basic design we will produce a final 'working drawing' for you approval. This will be the basis for the finished bookplate.
- At this stage we will ask you to confirm details such as materials, size and the number of plates you require. We will agree a price and send you an order form to sign to confirm your order.
- Once we have completed your commission you will be sent an invoice, and once we have received payment your bookplates will be sent to you.
Materials and Sizes:
Resingrave
A synthetic resin surface, mounted on a wooden block. A cheaper alternative to more expensive natural woods, but still capable of good results with careful engraving.
Maple
The least expensive and most readily available natural wood.
Lemonwood
Second only to boxwood in quality. Not in fact the wood of the lemon tree, its name derives from its pleasant citrus scent when freshly cut.
Boxwood
The close-grained wood of the slow-growing box is the most highly prized material for wood engraving, and this is reflected in its high price.
